About Us

Welcome to Casa Cartagena & Sustainable Tourism

At Casa Cartagena, we believe that travel has the power to change the world. That’s why we are committed to caring for the planet, honoring our traditions,
and offering our guests an experience that is both extraordinary and responsible.

Our team is made up of Cusco locals, who share their culture and stories with warmth and authenticity. The ingredients in our cuisine are sourced from Andean farmers, preserving agricultural traditions, while our interiors are adorned with works by Peruvian artists and designers, ensuring that every corner of our hotel reflects the spirit of our land.

We have lovingly restored a historic colonial mansion, one of only eight houses in Cusco declared a National Cultural Heritage Site of Peru, protected by UNESCO, so that our guests can truly connect with the city’s history and legacy.

Beyond preserving the past, we are also committed to protecting the future. Through sustainable practices and community support, we strive to make a meaningful impact on both the environment and the people around us.

Casa Cartagena: A UNESCO Protected Legacy

Casa Cartagena: A UNESCO Protected Legacy

In the heart of Cusco, Casa Cartagena Boutique Hotel & Spa stands as a timeless sanctuary, honored with the prestigious Blue Shield, an international distinction bestowed by UNESCO upon monuments of extraordinary cultural significance.

Built upon the foundations of an ancient Incan complex and exquisitely restored, this colonial mansion is one of only eight in Cusco designated as a Cultural Heritage Site of the Nation, ensuring its legacy is preserved for generations to come. Within its storied stone walls—once home to Incan and colonial nobility—centuries of history and mysticism remain ever-present.

A Legacy of Incan and Spanish Nobility

A Legacy of Incan and Spanish Nobility

Steeped in history, Casa Cartagena bears the name of its official heritage designation: Casa Don Fernando Cartagena y Santa Cruz, honoring its former owner, Cusco’s royal commissioner in 1640.

Built upon the sacred foundations of an ancient Incan complex, this storied estate once housed the empire’s noble elite. Today, its hand-carved stone walls and centuries-old colonial frescoes have been exquisitely restored, preserving their essence while elevating them into a Cultural Heritage Monument of Peru, safeguarded by UNESCO.
